Guide to view

RED highlighted area
Keep an eye out for the trains, they pass back and forth through this red area day and night.
Sometimes you might spot a very long freight train, but they are harder to find, not so many of them.

GREEN highlighted area
This is the quarry, there is regular traffic here even during the night.

BLUE highlighted area
Roads, keep an eye out for moving traffic, or their lights at night.

Also keep an eye out day and night for aircraft, this is one of the flight paths to Edinburgh International Airport.

Problems?:

All I can see is flashing dots
Your maybe looking at my camera during the hours of darkness here. You are seeing the lights in the town and on the hillside. I am unable to provide a clear night time image, try coming back during daylight hours GMT.

The image is very dark, can’t you lighten it?
Sometimes it does get dark here, weather can be overcast and cloudy and that makes the image dark. When I upgrade to a high definition camera I hope to vastly improve the light sensitivity and hence a better picture more often.

The image is too light, everything looks white!
Sorry, that means its a very sunny day…don’t worry, they don’t happen too often where I am, LOL. Things will return to normal once the rain starts…won’t be long, hahaha. As with dark images I hope to improve this when I get a high definition camera.

Why is the image so blocky and undefined?
Sorry, I am new to this and I bought a perfectly acceptable IP camera but on using the camera in its final location even I agree a higher quality picture would make the image sing. So I am looking at various high definition cameras, see my plans below.

The moving image does not move, or not very fast, why?
This is due to the fact it takes bandwidth to upload lots of images in sequence and I only have a limited amount of bandwidth to play with. Also it depends on your own internet connection, if your on a 3G connection for example the image may not move much at all due to lack of bandwidth on your end.

I can’t see any image at all, why?
The camera can only support a limited amount of people at once. If your not getting any image at all, please try later. If you really think there is a problem, use my contact page and get in touch.

Plans:

I hope to improve the image quality and give more detail. At present I am using a standard definition camera and it looks like I really need a high definition camera to get the quality I am after. I hope to be able to swap the camera out at some point soon. If I do, I am likely to setup this current camera as an alternate view, so there will be two webcams.

I also plan to put up a gallery of the best shots, so you have something to view, even when the weather is not the best.
